Introduction:

Mera Peak Climb an adventure using a different approach than another popular route to reach at Mera Peak base camp within hidden areas of Inkhu Valley. On this adventure to Mera Peak Climb starts with the scenic and exciting overland journey to reach southern areas of Everest around Solu district to begin our onward journey to reach the base of Mera Peak for the adventurous climb. Mera Peak one of the highest trekking peaks of Nepal at 6,461 m and 21,190 ft high located Nepal North Mid-East south-east of Everest and Khumbu area on route to Mt. Makalu and Baruntse. The climb of Mera Peak is just F means ‘Facial Easy’ the grading taken from French and Swiss Alpine Climbing System Classification, a straightforward peak to climb of less technical difficulties. The climb leads over moraine, ice, snow, and glaciers although fairly easy climb but one needs proper climbing equipment for a safe climb and descend. Starting with the overland journey from Kathmandu to reach at Solu areas located Nepal Mid-East within the south of Everest, where walk leads to nice and interesting villages of Sherpa and other mix hill tribes witness impressive farm areas of Phaplu-Tak Shindo-Nunthala-Khari-Khola and towards remote corners within beautiful Inkhu valley to reach Mera Peak base camp. The climb of great excitement to the summit facing outstanding panorama of Everest, Amadablam, Nuptse, Lhotse with Baruntse and Makalu as far to Kanchenjunga in the east direction. After a great adventure on top Mera Peak head back on the same trail for few days as route leads to climbing over Zatwar-La pass within high Kalo and Naulekh Himal rocky ridges and downhill to reach Lukla. At Lukla a popular Sherpa town and the gateway to many adventures around Everest where our walk ends in the comfort of a nice cozy lodge to spend last overnight around Everest region. Next, early morning catch a flight to reach Kathmandu taking 30 minutes with a sweeping panorama of Himalaya range including Mt. Everest on reaching Kathmandu back to your hotel, after a great marvelous adventure and experience on Mera Peak Climb. 

Outline Itinerary and Guideline:

Day 01:  Arrival at Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

Day 02:  Drive to Phaplu 2,413 m on the jeep -08 hrs.

Day 03:  Trek to Taksindu 2,931 m - 06 hrs. 

Day 04:  Trek Jubing 1,760 m - 06 hrs.

Day 05: Trek to Pangom 2,846 m via Khari Khola 2,370 m- 06 hrs. Day 06:  Trek to Ningso 2,863 m - 05 hrs.

Day 07:  Trek to Chhatra-Khola 2,800 m- 6 hrs. 

Day 08:  Trek to Kothe 3,691 m - 07 hrs.

Day 09:  Trek to Thaknak 4,358 m -04 hrs.

Day 10: Rest day for acclimatization and local hike.

Day 11:  Trek to Khare ( Mera Peak base camp) 5,045 m -04 hrs. 

Day 12:  Acclimatization day in Khare and Pre-Climbing Training 

Day 13:  Climb Mera High Camp 5,780 m / 18,958 ft - 04 hrs.

Day 19:   Fly to Kathmandu from Lukla and transfer to hotel. 

Day 20: Reserve and contingency day

Day 21:  International departure for homeward bound.

Day 01:  Arrival at Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

On arrival in Kathmandu international airport received by guide and staff for transfer to respective hotels downtown in the hub of Kathmandu city, after checking in and refreshment our guide provides briefing of the hotels, Kathmandu, culture and Mera Peak Climb and trekking with welcome dinner in a nice authentic Nepalese restaurant with folk and culture show.  

Day 02:  Drive to Phaplu 2,413 m on the jeep -08 hrs.

Adventure to Mera Peak Climb begins with an exciting overland journey to reach Solu located mid-eastern parts of Nepal and south of Everest, where drive leads past towns and villages of Himalayan foothills and to a lovely place of Dhulikhel. As drive continues heading further east on winding dirt road to Ramechap then reaching at Solu areas past Salleri headquarter town of Solu-Khumbu and then at Sherpa village of Phaplu for an overnight stop.

Day 03:  Trek to Taksindu 2,931 m - 06 hrs. 

After overnighting in Phaplu at Sherpa village, morning walk on the winding path with the first glimpse of Khumbu Mountains and views of Everest, as walk leads uphill to cross a bridge with a short climb to Ringmo village. From Ringmo, a gradual climb into the forest of pines and rhododendron trees to reach at Takshindu hilltop a pass at 3,070 m. The top marked with Mani Stupa / chhorten with views of Number, Kusum Kangguru, Thamersarkhu and Kantega peaks towards North.  From here a short descend to Tak Shindo village for an overnight stop with time to visit its interesting monastery.

Day 04:  Trek Jubing 1,760 m - 06 hrs.

Morning on long downhill into the forest to reach Nunthala village, also called Manidingma, a large hill village of Rai and Sherpa communities as walk continues down to Dudh Kosi River, crossing over then with a short climb to the nice area at Jubing village for an overnight stop. This farm village inhabited by Rai people the hill tribe of Eastern Nepal Himalaya.

Day 05: Trek to Pangom 2,846 m via Khari Khola 2,370 m- 06 hrs.

From Jubing, an hour uphill to Khari-Khola a large village with Sherpa, Magar and Rai, with time for short break continue walk heading to ridge crossing river then with steep climb for an hour to our overnight stop at remote Sherpa farm village at Pangom, located on a hilltop, offers grand views of rolling hills and valleys.

Day 06:  Trek to Ningso 2,863 m - 05 hrs. 

From here into the pure wilderness away from the main village and human settlement, as walk leads to the higher area into dense woodland of tall rhododendron, magnolia, oaks, and pine with fir trees to reach Ningbo area. Ningos a summer grazing pasture for domestic animals of nearby villages, where overnight is set with tented camping from here onwards for the climb of Mera Peak.

Day 07:  Trek to Chhatra-Khola 2,800 m- 6 hrs. 

The morning starts with the sound of birds within deep forest surrounding, as walk heads lead to Inkhu valley within Mera Peak area. The walk leads uphill crossing few streams within forested area encountering many temporary cattle herder shelters to reach Chhatra-Khola where the stream flows from the source of Mera Peak and other adjoining peaks as well.

Day 08:  Trek to Kothe 3,691 m - 07 hrs. 

Today walk leads past tree lines to enter into the mountainous country to reach around inner Inkhu valley where the trail from Lukla joins nearly at Kothe on route to Mera Peak base camp. Walk into tree lines and pasture land to reach a clear and wide grassy field and Kothe for overnight camp.

Day 09:  Trek to Thaknak 4,358 m -04 hrs.

From Kothe, a short morning walks on downhill facing excellent view of Peak 43 and Kusum Kanguru peaks, reaching inner and scenic Inkhu valley along with views of Mera Peak South Face, as walk leads into forest reaching at Thaknak for overnight stop, a place with few simple huts serving as tea-house for visitors and local porters.

Day 10: Rest day for acclimatization and local hike.

Rest day after many days of continuous walks a beautiful place for rest where you can hike to nearby hills for best views of surrounding mountains and support acclimatization before the climb. 

Day 11:  Trek to Khare ( Mera Peak base camp) 5,045 m -04 hrs. 

After a nice rest day, our adventure continues on a gradual path with few ups and downs overlooking fabulous scenery of the surrounding hills and dales that fills around Inkhu valley. The walk leads close at Chapatti Tal (four-sided lake) dammed by ricks and moraine, and then climb for short while and descend to a large meadow at Khare our overnight camp. Khare base camp for Mera Peak Climb, with time here for rest and practice climb.

Day 12:  Acclimatization day in Khare and Pre-Climbing Training. 

Another necessary rest day for acclimatization and to practice climb on the glacier, around icy and rocky areas, rest of the afternoon relax and prepare for the climb on top Mera Peak. 

Day 13:  Climb Mera High Camp 5,780 m / 18,958 ft - 04 hrs. 

From base camp at Khare, to set one more camp to make the climb easier and approachable, morning walk follows across Mera-La to reach Mera High Camp in a complete tranquil environment. After setting camp and after lunch free for preparation for next early morning climb to the summit of Mera Peak, where our guides will scout the area for better routes and making path much safer with necessary arrangement against incidental accidents.

Day 14:  Climb Mera Peak 6,461 m /21,190 ft and to Khare-08 hrs.

Starting early morning where climb leads with less technical problem, a route leads to straightforward climb, however one needs to take safety measures equipped with crampons, ice ax, helmets, after a strenuous climb finally reaching on top Mera Peak summit top, facing panorama of Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Makalu, Mt. Cho- Oyu all the way to Mt. Kanchenjunga. After the climb feeling high and then descend on same route and trek all the way to base camp at Khare, feeling tired and exhausted but glad to have done this marvelous adventure climb on top Mera peak.

Day 15:    Reserve as Contingency Day.  

An extra day as contingency just in case if unfavorable weather conditions obstruct the climb if all goes well this spare can be used on the way to Lukla or on-route.

Day 16:   Trek to Kothe 3,600 m - 06 hrs.

From Khare and Mera Peak base camp return journey leads to pleasant walk without the problem of altitude, although walks lead with few ups and downs to reach back into green vegetations and tree lines at Kothe around nice small cattle herder temporary shelters and grazing land.

Day 17:   Trek to Thuli-Kharka 4,300 m -5 hrs.

Morning walk continues leading into dense woodland with a steep climb on hills as walk leads along the grassy area on the gradual path to reach our last camp of the adventure at Thuli-Kharka.

Day 18:   Trek Lukla via Zatrwa La pass 4,610 m-06 hrs.

Today, last day of the trek as morning leads to long day treks with a climb over the high ridge of Naulekh or Kalo Himal over Zatrwa Og and Zatrwa-La, after the strenuous climb, descend towards Chutanga with green forest. As walk leads on a gradual pleasant trail to reach at Lukla for the scenic flight back to Kathmandu, in Lukla for last overnight stop in the comfort of the nice lodge to end our adventure on Mera Peak Climb.

Day 19:   Fly to Kathmandu from Lukla and transfer to hotel. 

From Lukla morning scenic flight back to Kathmandu with fantastic views of mountains from the plane on landing at Kathmandu airport, our staff transfers you back to the hotel around Thamel area with rest of the day free at leisure.

Day 20: Reserve and contingency day.

A spare and reserve day in Kathmandu in case of flight delay and cancellation at Lukla, which can occur sometimes even in best time of the year, well it goes according to our standard itinerary using this day for rest or for individual activities.

Day 21:  International departure for homeward bound. 

After a wonderful adventure in Nepal, enjoying Mera Peak Climb with grand views of world highest mountains, as per flight time transfer to international air terminal for your departure homeward bound or to next respective countries.
